If They Don't Interfere We'll Live More Peacefully

Another item on Armenian-Azeri relations (and in fact, between all three S. Caucasus Republics) but this time in the form of the market up at Bagratashen / Sadakhlo. I've been to Bagratashen to photograph Armenian refugees and I've been through Sadakhlo enroute from Tbilisi to Yerevan but never seen the market.

Many analysts consider that the market represents how economic integration in the region can bring people in the S. Caucasus together although another article recently published by IWPR suggests that the struggle against corruption in Georgia has adversely affected it. Incidentally, this article was published by Hetq Online, the online publication that I work part-time for in Armenia.

The Azeris are selling, the Armenians are buying and the Georgians, as 'landlords,' are 'controlling.' People say that the Armenians and Azeris here cooperate with each other better than Armenians and Georgians or Azeris and Georgians do.
