Facing extinction
Articles like this (from The Times) pop up every so often.
"If there are no systemic changes in Armenia, we could face a catastrophe," says Vardan Gevorgyan, a sociologist. "We will not disappear as an ethnic or cultural group in the world, but we will cease to be an effective republic."
Official statistics put the population of RA at 3.2 million, but the real figure is closer to 2 million due to the fact that many Armenians are living abroad illegally and are thus still registered at home, points out the article.
And to the solution? As is oft said, the rooting out of corruption that can make it easier for young people to create businesses and save for their future.

I agree with the sociologist V. Gevorgyan that we have plenty of space for new population. However, I don't see any encouragement in United States that will make Armenians to return to home.
There is couple of TV programs here in Los Angeles areas that have live TV shows where they do anything to make Armenia look like a hell, while it is not as bad as they pretend to be. Thus, I think that actions like these will hold back some percent of Armenians living in California from coming back home.
It's interesting. After Bush's re-election many (liberal / Democrat) Americans said they would consider moving to Canada. I wonder if there will be any similar ideas re. Armenia from some American-Armenians. I suppose it's possible.
Still, space is one thing. Jobs and salaries is another matter. However, selling everything and moving on out could at least release some funds to open a business but I don't know. Let's see.
