Bush and Genocide
George Bush today after a phone talk with Turkish Prime Minister again opposed to the resolution in Congress to recognize 1915 killings as Genocide. The reason as usual is the strategic importance of Turkey(for possible attack and pressure on Iran?).
I don’t understand this sentence of president Bush: “the events constitute a genocide should be a matter for historical inquiry, not legislation.”
what does it mean? who should do that? does it mean whatever is said up to now is irrelevant?
Most news agencies reporting Mr. Bush mentioned this paragraph: “Historians estimate that up to 1.5 million Armenians were killed by Ottoman Turks around the time of World War I, an event widely viewed by genocide scholars as the first genocide of the 20th century.
so who are these historians and scholars, president Bush and U.S. government do not accept? I hope by saying historians, they don’t mean Yusuf Halaçoğlu, the infamous Turkish denialist and head of the Turkish Historical Society.

Looks like we will be taking one step forward.

He is not a mighty president, he is just a small figure in some unused years in american history. I suggest to invite him to Tsitsanakaberd. Its not possible hard to pass the roundwalk without emotions.
