Pamuk in London

Orhan Pamuk, the Turkish Nobel laureate, was in London to promote his new book, other colors. He was accompanied by his daughter and his translator Maureen Freely who was also hrand dink’s friend.

The host was Boyd Tonkin, who if I am not wrong is independent’s literature editor.
He mentioned about pamuk’s trial and mentioned also the Kurdish issue but not the Armenian one which he was actually summoned to court for.

Pamuk then read some parts of his book and then talked about himself. Why he chose writing over painting and why he didn’t continue his family job.

Then at question and answer, I thought someone might ask about the Armenian genocide comment he made back then, but just a few person were able to ask their question and it never was mentioned.
Someone asked Pamuk about the paradox caused by being awarded in outside but facing the threat of imprisoning in Turkey.

He answered for him there is no paradox and not everyone in Turkey is trying to imprison him.
I don’t know where, but I remember reading that his books are being translated to Armenian, is this right? Anyone know? And I remember reading that vartan oskanian being a fan of him.
