Another Impression of Armenia
I saw this report fromon Groong Lonely Planet - It’s a pretty good picture of Armenia today.
For an unfair first impression of a country, try arriving at an
unrenovated Soviet airport in the middle of the night. Armenia’s
Zvartnots airport looked like a space station from the outside and
a disused factory on the inside. Mercifully, this ancient country
revealed its authentic — and attractive — nature very quickly.
Oh come on now! Your vision of Armenia is abstract. Yerevan in the past few years has become sophisticated, with major moves to upgrade downtown, with an Opera House in place, renovated sidewalks, roads, and unprecedented High Rise buildings going up the future of Armenia is great. Continental with parks, shops, music, cafes the city of Yerevan bristles with new energy. The airport arrival is standard. Night arrivals, or better yet early morning arrivals are do to low airport taxes, and, scheduling. So what? Does it upset your sleep? BE fair. The country has been through Hades gate and back. Their rebirth is rapid. Their antiquities in the outer areas are as good as anything you will see in Greece or Italy. Their wines rival anyone’s (birth of the vineyard) Their Brandy is exquisite. The food fantastic. The country inexpensive, explorable and worth more than one visit. The small inconveniences are consistant with these emerging countrys. Again - So what? The history, culture, of Armenia are worth spending some time with. Oh by the way NO I TRAVELSAPIEN is NOT Armenian. Canadian in fact. Enjoy

omg, armenia’s zvartnotc is like goddess next to the one in russia - and the last i heard that country is a f*** world power. Curruption in Zvartnotc? sure i agree with you, but the same exists in Russia and in LAX.(TRUST ME)
Stop complaining, personally, I’ve been to bunch of airports and Zvartnots - although small- is more than decent.
