  1. Who cares about Eurovision and its crappy artists. I don’t even know why anyone watches it. It’s probably the cheesiest contest out there.

  2. I’ve only seen clips of it on American TV, but it seems to have a lot of history and is a nice way for European countries to share culture ???

  3. There is this little continent called Europe - and they do care about Eurovision.

Ukraine won two years ago, and their winning singer Ruslana was successful in drawing large crowds to the Maidan for the ORange revolution.

  4. well hovakim, because maybe ukraine had not won many events like that since independence that she became, for a brief period, popular there. the last time i was in the ukraine, this past summer to be precise, nobody gave shaista about ruslana. a nation that gave us ilya repin and wassily kandinsky and gogol and svyatoslav richter now has to settle for some populist schlock like ruslana’s to bring about an orange revolution. how pathetic.

  5. Nazarian, perhaps you may not care but Eurovision is an important step in the future of media communications for Armenia - Now that we are fully fledged members of the European broadcast union, it means that Armenia has gained the credibility to host, and win events such as Eurovision, and if we ever did win, the amount of revenue generated would certainly help Armenia - and also - we claim to be so proud of our culture and music, let us relish this chance to be seen.

    surely?

  6. I really do not like this American-Armenian attitude of some sort of superiority.
Eurovision migth be as a silly contest as American Idol or other digusting stuff shown on American MTV. Why should not we care about Eurovision ?

  7. Guys, guys, come on, stop taking this contest so seriously, it’s just a fun and incredibly cheesy event that the “new European” countries take seriously because they mistakenly believe they will gain some sort of credibility if they win, which is of course just not true.
The only reason I will be watching it on May 20th is out of pure curiosity and of course because I want to see people’s reaction to the Armenian entry Andre about whom I know almost nothing. Undoubtedly I will be telling all of my none Armenian friends here to watch and vote because any media coverage of Armenia is better than none at all, even if it is in a vomit inducing cheese-fest !
