What Could Robert Do?

Filed under: Armenia, Culture, Humour, Corruption, Elections — Posted by Katy on October 30th

With the discussion of Robert Kocharyan possibly going (illegally) for a 3rd term as president, I was thinking about how we could help him determine some alternative activities to do upon retirement.

Perhaps he could write a book?

He could move back to Karbakh?

He could open up a consulting business?

Any thoughts?

  1. It’s believed that Kocharian has a number of businesses already through Gagik Tsarukian (AKA Dodi Gago). Some analysts believe that Tsarukian is a front for Kocharian and Serzh Sarkisyan. His name, for example, has also been mentioned in connection with the Golden Palace Hotel, or whatever it’s called. Hard to know for sure, and it’s all speculation, but he has plenty to do. As with LTP and Shevardnadze in Georgia, whether he stays in Armenia or Karabakh is dependent on who takes over and if a deal is struck.

  2. LTP has improved his English and his gardening significantly since leaving office, just for an interesting side note. Smart of him.

Can Robert be so productive? He is young. He has time left. What does an ex-president do?

    Hopefully something positive.

  3. How about a special representative in Karabakh settlement process (hopefully post-conflict settlement by the time his term is over) from armenian side?! He has the connections, he has the motivation and most importantly the chance for the legacy to enter the pages of history as “the uniter”.
From where I see it, he can play a crucial role in negotiations and can do a great deal for international recognition of the independent state of Artsakh, thus laying the ground for a succesful unification with Armenia, once the desireable deal is struck.

  4. LTP and Robert are so different personalities, I think each of them will be insulted by the comparison. Robert is not going to leave easily, actually it can be pretty ugly. The only hope that someone like french or american president ask him to leave.
