What does this have to do with Pankisi Gorge???????

And I guess you haven't got any information about the recent events in Pankisi. www.rferl.org recently had a good article about it basically saying exactly the opposite to what you are saying that they have stopped turning a blind eye and therefore the place is pretty clean now.

Hope that makes you happier!!

Nino (and others), when you post links can you include the full URL so that we go straight to the article or reference in question?

Thanks.

i'm guessing that this is the link which you're talking about
http://www.rferl.org/featuresarticle/2005/5/16CF7909-1500-430A-80BD-EA456AC33E1C.html

i'm sceptical about the content of the article. it's basically taking Saakashvili's word for it. There would never have been a problem in pansiki if Georgia hadn't basically ignored it.

Jacob, there is a difference between "turning a blind eye" and trying to sort something out even if its incredibly difficult to do so.

Besides, I haven't read anything of late even from the Russian media accusing the Georgians turning a blind eye to Chechens slipping over the border or allegations that Al Qaeda are there.

Maybe it's in the article you mention but unfortunately, you didn't post the link. I'll gladly do so, however, if you can.

Perhaps i'm slightly behind then. But i read that article i cited around the turn of the year and it was only published a year ago so i assumed it wasn't out of date. It wasn't my intention to anger anyone but, given that I rely on academic material, I may be slightly slow to catch up.
